The CLUB at LAS Terminal 1 Review

The CLUB at LAS Terminal 1 is a contract lounge within Las Vegas McCarran international airport, accessible via Priority Pass, paying $39, or several other options. I found myself hanging there for a half hour before my flight home from Vegas.  Having tried the United Club in the past and finding it to be a standard United Club, I was looking for something different. As you’ll see in our The Club at LAS Terminal 1 review, this was a worthwhile detour and definitely better than the United Club.

I had a very positive first impression when the receptionist greeted me warmly and ran down all of the amenities, making sure I knew the bar was free (just in case the past four days hadn’t been enough), and gave me the WiFi password.  Impressed by anyone that chipper at 7 AM on a Sunday in Las Vegas, I went in to check out the lounge.

As a reminder, for internal “house” reviews, we score on the same 1-3 scale we use elsewhere. A 3 indicates that a given category exceeded reviewer expectations, a 2 indicates it met expectations, and a 1 failed to meet expectations. We evaluate the categories we believe are most relevant to the flight, hotel, or lounge experience.

Name of Lounge: The CLUB at LAS T1

Location: Terminal 1

Time/Length of Visit: 7-7:30 AM

Date of Visit: 12/15/19

Method of Access: Priority Pass

Seating – 2/3

The lounge has multiple seating areas, including window seating.
Relaxation area.

The seating was solid and acceptable.  There was a variety of types of seats – work areas, cushioned seats, tables in the kitchen and bar seating along the window.  It was pretty dead at 7 AM, but it picked up to about 20% full by the time I left at 7:30.  I suspect that given the traffic going through the airport it gets quite busy later, but at this hour, it was comfortable.

Working nooks.

Drink – 2/3

The CLUB at LAS had all of the drinks you’d expect a good lounge to have.  It had a full open bar – which, of course, this being Vegas, people were drinking at, which just amazed me.  There were a number of different juices, an espresso drink machine, and sodas and waters.  Basically everything you’d expect in a lounge, but nothing unique or high end.

PTI’s favorite coffee machine.
Water and juices.

Food – 2/3

The hot food was basically just like a Homewood Suites or equivalent hotel chain breakfast buffet.  I had a little bit and it got the job done.  I didn’t try any of the cold options, of which there were many—that was a more impressive spread.  What looked most impressive to me was the giant option of different snack mixes, which is perfect for snacking in a lounge.  Unfortunately I couldn’t bring myself to eat wasabi peas at 7 AM, even though they are my favorite lounge snack food.

Carbs and eggs and bacon—all the breakfast basics.
Fresh fruit, toppings, and parfaits.
Every snack mix you could dream of, and more.

Cleanliness – 2/3

The lounge was acceptably clean, which for this hour should be expected.

Bathrooms – 2/3

The bathrooms were set up differently than many of the lounges I’ve been in.  As opposed to gendered bathrooms, there were an array of unisex stalls.  This was nice because they were spacious and had room for all of your carry-on bags if you were traveling alone and wanted to keep an eye on your stuff.  That way you didn’t have to do the “bathroom stall shuffle” of bringing in your roller board and carry-on, getting everything to fit, doing the bathroom thing, and then getting out again.

Big, usable, unisex bathrooms stalls.

WiFi – 3/3

Fast!

The WiFi was extremely zippy, as you can see from the speed test.  However, with very few people here at this hour, that would be expected.  I am not sure how it would have been if the lounge was crowded.

Views – 3/3

Something to give you a quick “wow!”

The views were quite stunning, as you could see the mountains shining in the morning sun.  The view was so spectacular that people were walking in, doing a double take, and then taking a picture.  In addition, there were views of the runway and planes.  The combination of natural beauty and AvGeek-ness was uncommon and appreciated!

Planes, mountains, and sky.

The CLUB at LAS Terminal 1 Review Bottom Line – 2.5/3

For the weight class of this lounge – a contract domestic lounge – it was definitely punching above its weight overall.  While not anything to get to the airport early for, it was an excellent place to kill some time.  If you were pregaming – or had the liver to postgame – your Vegas trip, the bar would have you set up.  The food got the job done, and the views made the lounge a little bit different.

Farewell, Vegas!
