Alitalia Business Class Reviews

Alitalia is considered a good option for business class travelers according to bloggers and reviewers. Overall, Alitalia scored a 2.33/3, which is a “good” rating. The standout part of the experience was the dining, with a 2.67/3 food rating. This is driven by the fact Alitalia has a starter, pasta, entree, and dessert course for lunch and dinner. This kind of multi-course meal is more typically found in first class, and reviews almost universally noted the food was great. The drink offerings, featuring Italian wines, Aperol spritz, and grappa, complete the meal.

Other aspects of the product are more hit or miss. The IFE was often reviewed as having a poor screen, poor selection, or both. Service was generally positive as well. Seats are fine with a 1-2-1 alternating setup that is comfortable enough but lacks storage.

Finally, we would be remiss if we did not note this airline is perpetually bankrupt. We could say “fly this product before it’s gone” … but our reviews spanned 2014 to 2019, and nearly all of them noted the airline was in financial trouble. And thus far, the Italian government keeps bailing them out!

What to Look Forward To: Multi-course meals, great drinks, and great service

What to Watch Out for: Poor IFE, perpetually bankrupt airline

As a reminder, Premium Travel Insider aggregates reviews from around the web and scores them on a 1-3 scale. A 3 indicates that a given category exceeded reviewer expectations, a 2 indicates it met expectations, and a 1 failed to meet expectations. We evaluate a variety of categories, the most important of which we call the “Big 5” that are most important to a premium travel experience: seat, food, drink, service, and in flight entertainment. Premium Travel Insider scores overall ratings on a 1-5 scale, and individual category ratings 1-3. Higher is better. NR = not rated by the reviewer for their flight or insufficiently reviewed. 0 = that product was not offered on a flight (typically bedding, WiFi, amenity kit).
