This week we have expanded Japan Airlines business class reviews. Expanding the reviews gave a much-improved picture of Japan Airlines and verified the airline is an excellent choice for long-haul business travelers looking to reach Japan and beyond. Although there are many positive aspects of Japan Airlines business class, there are several things that travelers should be aware of based on the reviews.
As a reminder, Premium Travel Insider aggregates reviews from around the web and scores them on a 1-3 scale. A 3 indicates that a given category exceeded reviewer expectations, a 2 indicates it met expectations, and a 1 failed to meet expectations. We evaluate a variety of categories, the most important of which we call the “Big 5” that are most important to a premium travel experience: seat, food, drink, service, and in flight entertainment. Japan Airlines Top Line
We now have 12 reviews from nine different sites. Japan Airlines business class scored a 2.63/3 overall, and a “Big 5” rating of 2.57/3. These ratings were well correlated, meaning that the overall experience and the individual aspects were both excellent. Our overall “level of detail” rating increased to 2.58/3, which means we have high confidence in these ratings due a high quantity of high-quality reviews.
What Changed the Most?
The most relevant and important increase was the overall score, which increased to 2.63/3 — which is an excellent rating — from 2.20/3, which is considered good. Driving these reviews was great service, food, and drink, as well as fairly high reviews of the Sky Suite.
At the individual aspect level, several scores increased, such as drink, which increased to 2.70/3 from 2.25/3. This was driven by a number of reviews commenting on the variety of teas and sake offered. Another notable increase was the service rating, which increased to 2.75/3 — an excellent rating — from 2.40/3.
The lavatory score dropped notably — from 2.50/3 to 2.14/3. This decrease was driven by several reviews noting average bathroom amenities. Cleanliness was not an issue with the lavatories. WiFi decreased, as well, from 2.00/3 to 1.67/3, reflecting poor-quality WiFi experiences.
What (Mostly) Didn’t Change?
Several categories remained roughly the same. The food edged up slightly to 2.92/3 from 2.80/3, making it even more awesome… but still largely the same awesomeness. The seat rating also stayed strong at 2.58/3, reflecting the generally high opinion of the Sky Suite. The IFE remained a sore point due to lack of variety, remaining somewhat below average at 1.90/3. Similarly, the amenity kits remained rated as subpar at 1.90/3.
Is Japan Airlines Business Class Worth Flying?
Based on our expanded Japan Airlines business class reviews, we can definitively state that Japan Airlines is an excellent product. The only notable issues are the slightly below-average amenity kits and IFE systems. Ultimately the overall rating of 2.63/3 and “Big 5” score of 2.57/3 mean you are in for a fantastic ride — particularly if you like a comfy seat, and restaurant-style food, beverages, and service.
