Expanded Swiss Airlines First Class Reviews

This week we’ll be continuing to expand our first class reviews with Swiss Airlines. A member of the Lufthansa Group, Swiss offers a very strong and competitive product in first class. Our expanded Swiss Airlines first class reviews went from five to 10 reviews, with eight sites now contributing.

The airline shines in a number of categories, and the expanded reviews largely confirmed what we already knew: this is a first class ride worth taking. Click here to skip right to the Swiss Airlines first class reviews.

As a reminder, Premium Travel Insider aggregates reviews from around the web and scores them on a 1-3 scale. A 3 indicates that a given category exceeded reviewer expectations, a 2 indicates it met expectations, and a 1 failed to meet expectations. We evaluate a variety of categories, the most important of which we call the “Big 5” that are most important to a premium travel experience: seat, food, drink, service, and in flight entertainment. You can learn more about our methodology here.

Expanded Swiss Airlines First Class Reviews Top Line

Swiss Airlines scored a 2.85/3 overall, with a 2.74/3 on the “Big 5” score. These scores are relatively well correlated and peg Swiss Airlines as an excellent/borderline superb product. With an overall level of detail at 2.60/3 paired with our 10 reviews, we have very high confidence in the consistency and quality of these reviews.

What Changed the Most?

WiFi2.20/31.50/3+.70
IFE2.22/31.75/3 +.47
Seat2.70/3 2.60/3 +.10
Bedding2.89/3 3.00/3 -.11
Amenity Kit2.75/33/3-.25

Adding reviews generally portrayed an even more positive impression of Swiss Airlines. The biggest change came from WiFi, with multiple reviewers reporting a strong, fast connection. IFE also made a big leap, but it still settled into a “good” level of 2.22/3, with reviewers having issue with screen quality on some of the older aircraft. The seat made a small gain, solidifying it as a great, comfortable, and stylish seat.

The changes were minimal on the negative side. Bedding dropped from a perfect score of 3/3 to a superb 2.89/3. Amenity kit had a bigger drop, going from a perfect 3/3 to an excellent 2.75/3. While these are drops, we at Premium Travel Insider don’t trust perfect scores. Someone is always going to find issue with something, and it may be helpful for you as a traveler to see exactly why.

What (Mostly) Didn’t Change?

Several categories remained consistent. These included the food, remaining at a superb 2.80/3, and the drink, also staying at 3/3. No one questions the meal service on Swiss, except for the lack of regular caviar service. The service itself also remained a perfect 3/3, with everyone praising the warmth, efficiency, and overall greatness.

The lavatories remained strictly acceptable at 2.00/3, with a lack of anything special to differentiate them.

Is Swiss Airlines First Class Worth Flying?

Based on our expanded Swiss Airlines first class reviews, we can state that Swiss is an excellent—if not superb—product to fly. The only notable weakness of the “Big 5” is the IFE, which is merely good, and the lavatories, which are acceptable. Everything else is degrees of excellence. Perhaps the biggest “concern” is that Swiss doesn’t serve caviar in their standard service, instead only serving it during a short period of time each year. Truly #firstworldproblems!
